Longleaf Film Festival

If you’re a film buff, you can’t miss the Longleaf Film Festival May 11th and May 12th! Held at the North Carolina Museum of History, the festival is free to attend and it includes narrative and documentary movies telling historic and contemporary stories about North Carolina, the United States, and the world! Are you into Japanese animation and culture? Then you’ll have a blast at Animazement on May 25th through May 27th! The fan-run anime convention is held at the Raleigh Convention Center and celebrates popular Japanese visual culture in all of its forms. Get into character and enjoy a range of themed events, including music performances, martial arts demos, and craft classes.


Memorial Day Weekend Freedom Balloon Fest

Let your imagination take flight at the Freedom Balloon Fest May 25 through May 28th! This is one of the most popular Memorial Day Weekend events in Raleigh. Honor and remember those who have served in the military as dozens of hot air balloons fill the skies. The free event is held at Fleming Loop Park and also includes live music, food vendors, and arts and crafts vendors.
